This wednesday, I heard from my colleague that his home town, Segamat was seriously flooded. The water level is about 6ft, and his family (a 95-years-old bedridden grandma, his parents, sister and a maid) have to move to upstairs to survive with limited food and drinks. No electricity supplies either. He tried many ways to reach the rescue team but none of them are reacheable!! On the way home, I heard from radio that in some of the area, the water level rise to 10ft!!!
Lukily in the following morning, the water level had subsided. His uncle tried to purchase the mineral waters and bring to his family, but unluckily he only managed to get packs in small bottles, as those in 1.5 litres or more are sold out! Furthermore they had to wait until the army allowed them to enter to the flooded zone. Some volunteer group offered help and advised them to move out of the affected area as soon as possible, but unluckily his grandma is weak and rely on special bed and medication, so it's really hard to move her out...
Read his true story here...
Can you imagine if that happened on you and your family? I read from the newspaper that the only 2 rescue sampan(or whatever) in Segamat were damaged, so they have to seek help from other places, which caused the delay. Can you imagine how many lifes might be in danger just because of this? Cold, hungry, fearful, darkness... Can you imagine that?
Please offer your help as much as you can. Small little things may bring warmth to them.
