tEam bUilding, PD (Part III) - F1 Go-Kart

We had Go-Kart in the following morning. After a nice breakfast, we started our racing game!! We were arranged in 2 teams. Each team member was first be given a lap around the race track to familiarize ourselves with the go kart and also the layout of the track. Then we raced for 3 laps before changing drivers, but before the change of first 3 drivers, we must first solve a jigsaw puzzle before the next drivers drives off.
One funny thing is that each of us had to wear a shower cap provided by the resort due to hygiene purpose when wearing the safety helmet. All of us looks funny when wearing that. Hahaha...

The track length is 400m.

My turn!! ^-^V

tEam bUilding, PD (Part II) - Treasure Hunt, Obstacle course and Telematching

The first game for the team building is Treasure Hunt. Since 2 cars lost their direction, we only had 13 participants for the game, ie. 3 - 4 persons in a team. We were required to find out the clue in a white paper and answer the question or find out the treasure as mentioned. Then go to the next destination for the next clue. Luckily my team is the winner!! We won ourselves a T-shirt and key chain. ^-^ V

After our lunch break, we had the obstacle and telematching courses. The obstacle course is quite challenging and interesting. There are a total of 20 obstacles in different stations. Each team must work together to clear all the following obstacles safely and also in the shortest time:

  1. 2ft singe bar - jump across
  2. 6ft double bar - climb up /down the bar
  3. swinging bridge - walk across and balancing
  4. tyre king - rawl through
  5. crab walk - ran through balancing
  6. loft tunnel - crawling through
  7. staggered ladder - climb up/down
  8. 6ft wall - individual climb across
  9. 8ft wall - team effort - climb across
  10. water hazard - jump across
  11. rope netting - climb up/down - across
  12. loft vertical rope - climb down hill
  13. single beam - walk across
  14. tarzan swing - swing across water hazard
  15. monkey rack - swing across
  16. barb wire - crawl through under bard wire
  17. single cable - walk across on cable
  18. barb wire 3ft - duck walk across
  19. log riding - sit sliding along the log
  20. jump over ditch - jump across

*Challenging obstacles are in BOLD.

Don't know what does it called..??

Log riding. This is easy for guys...

Tarzan swing...

Barb wire

8ft wall

6ft wall

loft vertical rope

After the obtacle course, all became dirty and some of us are injured.

After the obstacle course, we had telematch. This is much more easier if compared with the obstacle course. Most of us are tired and exhausted. Luckily there's only few games for the telematch, and doesn't required much energy. We had about 2 hours for bathing and resting before our BBQ dinner started.

Our dinner... the food looks nice but mostly tasteless.

tEam bUilding - Eagle Ranch Resort, PD (21-22 Oct 06)

I've just joined my current company for less than 2 months, but luckily I had the chance to join the team building course in Eagle Ranch Resort, Port Dickson for 2 days 1 night. There are a total of 21 participants in 6 cars, which 2 of the car drivers decided to depart earlier to avoid the traffic congestion due to long DeepaRaya Holidays. We departed from Tropicana at 6am, and reach Port Dickson within 1.5 hours. The event started at 9am, so we still had plenty of time to enjoy our dim sum breakfast. After the breakfast, then we continue our journey to find the Eagle Ranch Resort.

The reception of the resort

Out of my expectation, the resort is not near to the beach. It's located at 14th mile, Port Dickson, and offers a unique "Home on the Ranch" stay amidst rugged 28-acre surroundings with beauty of the natural. Choice of accomodation at the resort varies from kampung houses, log cabins, paddock chalets and tepees to dormitories.

Log Cabin with open-to-the-sky waterfall showers

Red Indian Tepee

Kampung houses over the fishing pond

There are variety of sports and recreation activities, but I would just name a few:

  1. paintball
  2. horse riding
  3. Go-Kart
  4. 20 Item obstacle course
  5. treasure hunt
  6. telematch
  7. flying fox
  8. sea rafting
  9. jungle trekking
  10. archehry

Hmm.... Finished the introduction of the resort, next I'll blog about the activities that we'd participated, which is full of fun and challenge!!

Day Trip to Malacca (14 Oct 06)

It's years ago since my last visit to Malacca. Having planned for weeks, finally I stepped into the territory of this historical ancient town again with few of my good friends. We departed from KL at 9:30am, and reached there within 1.5 hours with normal speed. Once reached there, we straight away went to the famous chicken rice shop for our lunch. There are few shops famous of the chicken rice scattering around the "Red House" (direct translation from Chinese =.=), but we chose "Chung Hwa" which is an old shop at the corner. It's just opposite of the OCBC Bank, if not mistaken.
After the meal, we had a walk near the "Red House". We went to Christ Church, St. Paul's Church, A'Famosa and People's Museum which are just within the walking distance. All of these are the hallmark of Malacca.

Christ Church since 1753. A must-visit famous place.

Line of trishaws passed by while we walked along the antique street. This is one of the promotional event of DiGi.

Thanks to our neighbouring country, it's really hot due to the haze. So we decided to have the famous cendol, and also tried out some of the nyonya food. Unfortunately we were still full and only managed to try out 1 dish which is called the "Ayam Pongteh" - Miso Soy Chicken. It's actually the chicken which is cooked with preserved soy beans [Miso], dark soy sauce, sugar and other ingredients.
After that we walked along the old shops, and were attracted by 1 of the art gallery.

Tang's Art Gallery

Each of us bought a Chinese stamp with our names, which costs us around RM40-50 each. The writings are really nice. The business is actually operated by 3 brothers who are quite friendly. They had even drawn a map to guide us to some of the famous food around the area, including the "peanuts soup", "satay celup" and fried oysters. Hmm.. We had really eaten alot. ^-^

Nice fried oyster. Even much better if can put more oysters. It's a long queue and we waited for about 30 minutes before getting our food.

Hmm.... A very nice trip, just eat, walk, eat, walk and eat... ^-^

mOOn cAke fEstivaL

How did I celebrate? Initially planned to have big meal with my housemates. But I worked late that day... =( 5pm... 6pm... 7pm... Still in the office. sigh...
While waiting for my team lead to solve some server issue, I took some photos with my teammates.

Finally we can leave at 7:10pm... phew!!! Anyhow I was late for the dinner, so have to cancel the plan. Eventually 'yum cha' with my 'old' friends.

In the following day there was a belated celebration in church. Pot luck, lanterns, moon cakes... It has been years that I didn't manage to enjoy this kind of atmosphere. ^-^

Can you see the Jade Rabbit or Chang-Er on the moon?? ^-^
